Wyoming, My First Born Home

First picture advertises an office / position in the government.  The welcoming sign to the state was 1/10 that size. I almost missed it and did not get a picture.  POLITICS?

Some things the state offers, good roads, less traffic, congenial people.  Many species of birds and animals to enjoy and keep you healthy too.

I learned that the current Wolf's there are from Canada and they do not even look like the wolves that I knew when young.  Canadian wolves are huge compared to Wyoming wolves, why did the government do that to us?

Took a picture of one stuffed in Museum in Green River, WYO. That stop was very educational, many great books to consider buying for Genealogy.  I bought one on the wives of the outlaws.

More to come on Wyoming History.

Cluster Research Comments

Cluster Research comments that I did not bring up when we discussed the 5 pages of our Beginners Packet.

When doing Census research,  a very wise man told me to go 20 up and 20 down on the census page about 1995.  Shortly after that I learned it was even wiser to check page before and after, just in case.

Especially in rural communities instead of larger towns and cities, this method is wise  to rely on.

I am  going to post a page portion of our genealogy which will give you reason to understand why one needs to search a wee farther in smaller communities because, future mates basically came from with in that very community.

There is a big inter mix of the Hoffman/Huffman, Stewart, Fry kin. Not only in the area of Greene Co. PA but also over to Monroe Co. OH.  Again in Kansas and Iowa and other areas they later migrated to, this happens.

See all those crossing over surnames.  The list goes on also.  Neighbors married neighbors and when scanning a census look for all family names you have heard your parents or grandparents mention.
Check for any surnames in the family history, as neighbors, that you have no idea where they came from.

Check School lists, tax lists and land records for whom was the neighbors of who.

Land Records some times give you family stories regarding the purchasers kin. (the early ones)

6 Sept Beginners Workshop 12 - 3 pm Bonita-Sunnyside Library

Saturday 6 September from 12 to 3 pm we are presenting a Refresher and a Beginners Packet for
genealogy, historian researchers.

We will cover the five basic charts, we chose to use long ago and we will be adding some new charts to the mix.

We are hoping this will help the new members whom are just learning and the older members and guests that have never seen the Beginners Packet we put together years ago.  We are sad it was dropped and no idea when it was dropped.

There are newer charts found that also increase our abilities when on a computer that Randy Seaver has created that we use you may like to see also.

We will be talking about how to fill out the charts, (always in pencil) until the final draft.
We will be talking about cluster research and maps and various things that will help you when you are working with family histories.

The Beginners Packet will be provided by CVGS.

Save the Date of 4 October for the Major Workshop of fun and learning.  This year it is free.
